Conservation and restoration
Conservation and restoration work has been carried out by Jönköping County Museum for more than 50 years and we have broad competence within this field.

Restoration of paintings on wood and canvas, as well as interiors with architectural painting carried out on commission both in
religious and secular environments.

Our painting restorers also accept work from private individuals. There are many hidden treasures in cupboards and wardrobes, and many of them are in need of conservation or restoration.
The department is also responsible for some conservation and restoration of the museum’s own collections, which comprise many objects in different materials. An important aspect is preventative work, with overhaul and practical restoration of e.g. the museum’s art collection. On the top floor of the museum visitors can follow on-going conservation and restoration projects through a glass partition.
